Media4Music is the leading independent Brazilian vinyl discs producer. This company is constantly aiming to make possible solo and independent artists to record their own vinyl album in an affordable way, with huge differentials such as disc color, cover art and sound quality. By far this was one of my most demanding client and the best part of this was that I could work close enough to get in contact with many different artists, musicians and other designers.
Media4music was one of my major partners in a long year run. We even divided our offices together and used to listen an eclectic music range all day long, and use art references from all around the world and from different time ranges. I had the valuable help of my business partner and one assistant to keep things in track and to produce hundreds of arts from online to traditional offline. Back at that time, we had also a great companion from Czech Republic. this young guy moved from Europe to help us out in Brazil, and of course, fell in love with a girl to never return back to his homeland.
| Project: Brand Identity, Website, Graphic Design, Album Cover
| Client: Media4Music
| Software: Photoshop, Illustrator, HTM5, CSS3, Maya
Media4Music had two websites running in parallel, with different objectives on the run.
I created the new institutional website based upon the battle tested CMS platform WordPress, customizing most of it´s content to fit the brand requirements.
First of all, we had at that time, the urge to communicate that Media4Music was ready to produce new vinyl discs 100% customized according to the client´s taste. Secondly, we had to spread the word that Media4Music wasn’t only for famous musicians, but for everyone, creating, producing, remastering, designing and delivery worldwide in no time. Thirdly, we had to showcase the enormous amount of products in a portfolio gallery. There were so many discs produced, I can´t even remember !
The other website was created to promote new releases, acting like a Hotsite. So We had every week at least one new album arriving our offices, and we were already allowing people to pre order copies with great price discounts.
Rebrand / Logos
At Media4Music, back at that time (around 2013) we had designed a whole new user experience with the brand. While I was responsible to give the identity a fresh look and the ability to bend into at least four newly created departments, my business partner was designing all the planning needed to garantee satisfaction from the online purchase to receiving the vinyl disc in hands. We together even created many different packages, toy arts, posters, and so much more. Check below how the original logo was redesigned, giving a new approach to a more dynamic perception.
When the original logo got stressed and misused by severe business strategic failures in the past, it was being remembered as a company that was treating poorly their customers and artists. For the sake of a complete change, I created a new logo with an extensive color research and presented a fresh new approach to reintroduce the brand name in the market. With these changes, the company would reevaluate the way they are treating their customers, clients and suppliers. It was an extreme makeover.
The “M” letter received a subtle fourth leg, indicating the four of us at that moment that made possible the company to flow, not effortlessly of course, and a more stable vision to surpass several difficulties already mentioned. All the new fresh colors were chosen to make the four new departments more vividly easy to remember and locate.
This E-Shop logo was designed by Rafael Dias and refined by me. Used on the E-Commerce we developed to sell and pre order vinyl discs.
Graphic Design / Album Cover Design
Most of the valuable art tasks I performed were creating and adapting album covers. We are used to CD and DVD sizes (usually 12x12cm), but when it comes to vinyl, the canvas is much bigger (30cmc30cm) thus making details more evident, and the extra space, allowing to let flow the inspiration more wildly.
Below I present some of the projects I made.
This special vinyl edition for The Police in Dub by Echobeach was made under special license and the art adaptation was created by Rafael Dias and me.[huge_it_gallery id=”4″]
More Graphic Design
Being this the most extensive project I have ever put my hands on (it was a full year work load), I do have backed up somewhere more stuff, ranging from promotional marketing to customer gifts artworks, but from the almost 200 design pieces created, I think the most interesting ones are these published here. If you want to know more more about this project or to discuss anything related, please do so using the commentary system below or e-mailing me.
